Why This Works for the Foundation

Fundraising attached to moments already on your calendar.

The Foundation does not have to build an event, staff a campaign, or buy media. Propeller attaches a fundraising engine to the tentpoles the League is already investing in, and hands back donors, data, and dollars.

New donors, not just reach

Every entry requires an action for the Foundation, and every entrant becomes a first-party record: name, email, and consent. These are people who were not on your file this morning.

Donor data you keep

Entrants, donors, and engagement come back to the Foundation as usable data after every tentpole, with full reporting on what each moment produced.

Paid media we fund

Propeller buys and runs promotion to reach people beyond the Foundation's list and beyond our own 4M+ community. Growth comes from new audiences, not from re-asking the same ones.

Turnkey, start to finish

We build the pages, run the promotion, handle sweepstakes compliance and official rules, fulfill every prize, and report the results. The lift on the Foundation is approvals and inventory.

A Three-Part Program Built Around the 2026-27 Tentpole Calendar
Part One
The Flyaway Series

Leverage the Season's Biggest Moments for Fundraising

The 2026-27 calendar gives the Foundation a run of destination events with built-in urgency. Each one becomes its own flyaway sweepstakes, with a deadline that drives a spike in entries, actions, and donations.

Every Flyaway Includes
  • Round-trip flights for winner and guest
  • Hotel accommodations for the event window
  • 2 premium tickets to the game
  • Pre-game player meet and greet
  • A signed player-worn jersey
  • Event merch package and on-site host

Four Sweepstakes Around Four Destinations in One Season

Run as a series, each event feeds the next. A fan who enters for Helsinki in November is already in the community when All-Star Weekend opens in February, and every entry along the way is an action taken for the Foundation.

The International Games

Helsinki - Veikkaus Arena - Hurricanes vs. Kraken
Düsseldorf - PSD Bank Dome - Blackhawks vs. Senators
The only NHL sweepstakes that puts a fan on a plane to Europe.
  • Winner's choice of destination: Finland or Germany
  • Tickets to both games in the series, not just one
  • International travel is the single strongest prize we can put in market, and it lifts entry rates across every other part of the program
  • Opens the campaign to European fans and grows the Foundation's reach beyond the US
Propeller handles international fulfillment, travel documentation guidance, and cross-border sweepstakes compliance.

Winter Classic

Rice-Eccles Stadium - Salt Lake City, UT
Avalanche vs. Utah Mammoth
Salt Lake City on New Year's Eve, in the middle of peak ski season.
  • The destination sells itself to non-hockey fans: a ski trip built around the game widens the entry pool well beyond the hockey audience
  • New Year's Eve broadcast window is one of the highest-attention slots on the calendar
  • First outdoor NHL game ever played in Utah, which gives the campaign a first-time hook
  • Falls between the international games and All-Star, keeping the series continuous through the holidays
Pairs a marquee NHL event with a vacation people already want to take.

All-Star Weekend

UBS Arena - Elmont, NY
Five-team international 3-on-3: USA, Canada, Finland, Sweden, World
A five-nation field in a brand-new format, in the New York market.
  • Full weekend access: Friday's Skills Competition, where 10 players 25-and-under chase a $1 million obstacle-course finale, plus Saturday's All-Star Game
  • The new five-nation format gives us a national and global promotional hook
  • Live on ESPN and ABC in the US and Sportsnet in Canada, so the Foundation's message rides a peak-attention broadcast window
  • Natural moment to spotlight Foundation grantees and youth hockey programs on site
Runs two weeks before the Stadium Series, so the two campaigns hand off to each other.

Stadium Series

AT&T Stadium - Arlington, TX
Stars vs. Golden Knights
Hockey at Jerry's World. The venue is a spectacle in its own right, before a puck drops.
  • AT&T Stadium is a destination people want to see for itself, which widens the entry pool well beyond hockey fans
  • Lands in a strong Sun Belt growth market for the game
  • Runs two weeks after All-Star, so the two campaigns compound instead of competing
  • Pairs naturally with Stadium Series specialty jerseys on the memorabilia side
Strongest creative package of the four for paid promotion.
Each flyaway runs four to six weeks and closes about a month before its event, with the winner notified within 48 hours of the draw. That leaves real time to arrange international travel, time off, and holiday plans. Fans enter by taking actions for the Foundation: learning about grantee programs, signing up, sharing, or donating. Propeller builds, promotes, and fulfills every one of them.

Part Two
Ticket Rewards

Put Club Ticket Donations to Work for the Foundation

  • Clubs already donate tickets to the Foundation. This puts that existing inventory to work as sweepstakes and auction prizes rather than one-off giveaways
  • Promoted across Propeller's 4M+ community, reaching a national market well beyond any single Club's footprint
  • Dedicated landing page with cause stories, calls to action, and entry mechanics
  • Designed to sit alongside Club programs, not compete with them. Nothing here touches a Club's 50/50 raffle or its own giveaways, and inventory is used only where a Club has already donated it
  • Light lift for the NHL: just point fans to the program on social
Part Three
Memorabilia & Auction

Built to Work With What You Already Run

  • Most clubs already have a memorabilia and auction system they trust. Propeller is not proposing to replace it. We drive new bidders into it
  • Our community brings volume from outside the existing list: 4M+ people nationally who are not already on NHL or club email files
  • Points-based access tier for the items that rarely clear a live auction: signed cards, pucks, posters, and smaller collectibles, redeemed by fans who took action for the Foundation
  • Tentpole inventory carries a premium and a built-in deadline. Global Series, Stadium Series, and All-Star gear all sell against a date
  • If the Foundation would rather keep auction operations entirely in house, this part can be scoped as traffic and promotion only
Everyone Wins

A turnkey way to grow the game and fund the Foundation.

Fans Get

  • A shot at Helsinki, the Winter Classic, All-Star Weekend, or the Stadium Series, with player access and a signed player-worn jersey
  • Entering is the start, not the end. Fans track their entries, earn more by coming back, and get pulled along by countdowns, reminders, and the winner reveal
  • A reason to follow the Foundation's work all season instead of hearing from it once
  • Auction access to exclusive signed NHL memorabilia

The NHL Foundation Gets

  • Four revenue spikes on the calendar instead of one flat season-long ask
  • New donors, not just reach. Every entry is a first-party record: name, email, and consent, delivered to the Foundation
  • Paid media brings in people you do not have yet. Propeller funds and runs promotion that reaches beyond both the Foundation's file and Propeller's own 4M+ community
  • Donor data and full campaign reporting after every tentpole
The Cause

Strengthening communities and improving lives across the country through the game of hockey.

The NHL Foundation strengthens communities and improves lives across the United States through the game of hockey, promoting access and positive experiences both on and off the ice. Through programs spanning youth development, equal opportunity, health and well-being, and pathways into hockey, the Foundation supports the social-emotional development and well-being of young people. People support this work because they believe in it, and the love of the game only makes it spread faster. Propeller turns that belief into action at scale.

The Partnership

How It Works

Propeller Handles

  • Promotion across 4M+ Propeller platform users
  • First-party fan data collection & delivery
  • Paid promotion with national reach
  • All creative & landing pages
  • Prize fulfillment: flights, hotel, event tickets, on-site hosting
  • International travel fulfillment and documentation guidance
  • Winner selection, notification & logistics
  • Post-program reporting & analytics for the NHL Foundation
  • Full compliance, sweepstakes legal & official rules, including international entry

The Ask

  • 2 tickets plus access per tentpole event (International, All-Star, Stadium Series)
  • A player or alumni legend meet and greet at each tentpole. Alumni activations around these events are often the easier lift and carry the same weight with fans
  • Signed player-worn jersey or merch pack per flyaway
  • Club-donated ticket inventory routed to the Foundation
  • Memorabilia access, or an intro to the Foundation's existing auction partner
  • Social support from the NHL's channels
  • 15 to 30 sec face-to-camera video from an NHL player (script provided)
  • Meta advertiser access (League-approved)

Let's build this for the 2026-27 season.
